Not content with starring in Judd Apatow's enormously successful comedies (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up) Seth Rogen has now decided to write his own. He doesn't star in this one, although he does have a part in it that must have been fun to play, and despite that, it is still very, very funny.

The brilliant Michael Cera (from TV's Arrested Development and the internet's plays Evan, a high school kid who is shy and doesn't have much going for him. His best friend is Seth, a fat kid who probably has even less going for him. The pair are about to graduate from high school and like all teenagers, they only really want one thing before they graduate – some hot girl action.

Unfortunately, their geeky ways have thus far prevented them from being invited to any parties with the cool kids, but help is at hand when their other equally nerdy friend, Fogell, picks up a fake ID. Before you know it, all three of them have been invited to a great party by a hot girl and all they have to do is pick up some booze on the way!

The course of true love never did run smooth though, and all kinds of funny and odd events happen to the boys as they try to satisfy their simple goal. In fact, if you had to sum up this film in one word, that word would be very funny and completely silly. It's a real laugh-fest from start to finish, and it is thoroughly entertaining stuff.

Of course, it takes a lot to make a perfect film, and this is still a long way from it. There's a lot of swearing in this one, and while the majority of it is downright funny, it does get a little gratuitous and unnecessary at times. The plot isn't exactly original either, which is probably part of my biggest gripe with this film: it's fairly unmemorable. It is not going to be one of those endlessly watched and quoted films like Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy or Withnail and I. In fact, I can hardly remember any of the jokes in it now. Nevertheless, I do remember that it was hilarious, so my advice is to go and watch it and enjoy the ride while it lasts. Who knows, maybe your memory will fair better than mine!
